Your family, your say

A clear look at privacy, AI and the choices you have in Asher.

01 / Your family’s spaces

Some things are yours alone, and some are shared

Just you

Private Ask

Your conversations with Asher aren’t visible to the other adult in your family.

Together

Family Chat

A shared conversation for the active adults in your family. Everyone in the conversation can follow along.

Chosen by you

Handbook and Plans

The family knowledge you choose to save and the plans you add. Shared with your family, with room to edit as life changes.

Saving a takeaway or adding a plan from Private Ask shares that card or plan. The conversation stays private. More in the Privacy Policy

02 / Email and the Plans Inbox

Help with your email, on your terms

Forward an email about your family’s plans, like events, appointments and to-dos, to your family’s Plans Inbox address and Asher suggests plans for you to review. It’s optional.

Only what you forward

Asher sees only the emails you choose to forward, and only from senders you trust. Mail from anyone else is dropped without its content being stored.

Rules, not AI, during the beta

Asher finds dates and details with automated rules on our own systems. Forwarded email isn’t sent to our AI provider.

Nothing is added without you

Suggestions wait in your family’s Plans Inbox until an adult reviews them. When Asher isn’t sure about a detail, it marks the suggestion for review. Your family can choose to turn on automatic adding for complete events from trusted senders.

Shared with the other adult

The Plans Inbox is shared, so both adults can see forwarded emails and suggestions. Original emails are kept for up to 90 days.

Connecting a Gmail account isn’t available yet. Before we offer it, we’ll update our Privacy Policy and this page. Asher’s use of information received from Google APIs, such as Google Calendar, follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

iPhone location permission doesn’t turn on sharing with another adult. Sharing is a separate choice on the Plans map. In the current app, each shared snapshot lasts up to one hour and doesn’t update in the background.

Tap Stop sharing and check that Asher confirms it has stopped. If the request fails, the last snapshot may remain visible until stopping succeeds or it expires.

What Asher can and can’t do for you

You make the final call

Asher can help you think things through. Its answers can be incomplete or wrong for your situation.

It isn’t a doctor, therapist, lawyer or emergency service. It does not monitor your family for emergencies.

For immediate danger, contact local emergency services directly.

Check a card before you share it

Public links to Handbook cards aren’t available yet. When they are: before creating a public link, review the exact card people will see. Remove children’s names and other identifying details. Asher’s checks may not catch everything.

Anyone with the link can view the public card. They can forward it or keep a copy.

Revoking a link stops future access. It can’t recall screenshots or copies.

05 / How it’s built

The principles and checks behind Asher’s answers

Asher’s answers come from an AI model, but not an unguided one. Written principles shape what it says, and every Ask and Family Chat message goes through safety steps before Asher replies.

A written point of view

Asher follows written principles on child development, family life and safety. Each one notes how strong its support is: broad consensus, good evidence, genuinely debated, or simply Asher’s view. Asher is instructed never to invent studies, statistics or sources.

Safety sets the order

When priorities pull in different directions, Asher follows a fixed order: immediate safety first, then limits on medical and legal questions, then your child’s dignity and your say as a parent. Your family’s preferences shape tone, routines and approach without loosening those limits.

Checks before Asher replies

Before Asher replies in Ask or Family Chat, an automated step sorts the message by topic so stricter rules apply to medicine, legal questions and anyone’s safety. Those replies get a second check and are held back if they include things like medication doses, or leave out emergency or professional resources when the topic calls for them. If a check can’t finish, Asher answers with more caution, not less.

Tested with hard cases

We build Asher against more than 200 written test scenarios with fictional families: everyday questions, tricky edge cases and deliberate attempts to push it off course. The most serious safety scenarios are pass-or-fail. A single miss is a failure to fix, not a score to average away.

None of this makes Asher a doctor or a guarantee. Answers can still be wrong, so you stay the decision-maker. If a response concerns you, tell us.

06 / A few common questions

A little more clarity

Can the other adult read my private chats?

No. Your Private Ask conversations are not visible to the other adult. A takeaway becomes shared family knowledge only when you choose to save it to the Handbook, and a plan becomes shared when you add it to Plans.

Does Asher read my email?

Only email you forward to your family’s Plans Inbox address, from senders you trust. During the beta, Asher reads it with automated rules and doesn’t send it to our AI provider. Connecting a Gmail account isn’t available yet.

We don’t use your email for advertising, and we don’t sell it. How the Plans Inbox works

Does Asher remember my conversations?

Asher uses what you save, such as your Handbook and family profiles. Conversation memory, which would keep short summaries of earlier chats, isn’t available yet. When we add it, it will stay off until you turn it on.

Where does Asher’s advice come from?

From an AI model guided by Asher’s written principles on child development, family life and safety. Where clear public pediatric or public-health guidance exists, such as safe sleep for babies, the principles follow it. Where the evidence is mixed, Asher says so, and its own judgment calls are labeled as its own. If a source Asher mentions doesn’t check out, please tell us.

Does a real expert check Asher’s answers?

No one reviews individual answers before you see them. Asher’s written principles and automated safety steps shape every Ask and Family Chat reply, and you remain the decision-maker for your family.

How do I report a concerning response?

Use Report an issue with this response on the message in the app, or email support@withasher.app. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
